Ultrafast Electron Dynamics in Graphene

Abstract:
Graphene is an ideal material to study new processes in the ultrafast carrier dynamics under two-dimensional confinement. The linear energy dispersion and the vanishing bandgap of grapheme allow new and surprising electron scattering processes, suppressed in conventional semiconductors: Fascinating examples include the built up and relaxation of spatially anisotropic carrier distributions and a process which generates several excited electrons out of
one photon.
During the talk, the theoretical description will be developed and a detailed comparison of the results with recent experiments is given.
